June 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit decreased to 51.1 billion denars ($888 million/829.4 million euro) in the first four months of the year, from a total of 80.2 billion denars in the same period of 2022, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Exports increased 6.3% on the year to 171.9 billion denars in the January-April period, while imports fell 7.9% to 223 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, and electricity.
The country predominantly imported petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, metals of the platinum group and colloidal precious metals.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in January-April were Germany, the UK, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
