April 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit decreased to a total of 26.1 billion denars ($462.1 million/423.2 million euro) in the first two months of the year, from 35.3 billion denars in the same period of 2022, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports increased 10.1% on the year to 82.6 billion denars in the January-February period, while imports fell 1.6% to 108.8 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, electricity and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel.
The country predominantly imported petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, metals of the platinum group and alloys and colloidal precious metals.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in January and February were Germany, the UK, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
