June 20 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's supermarket chain operator KAM said it has opened a new logistics centre in Skopje, following investment of 12 million euro ($12.6 million).
The 60,000 sq m logistics facility, which includes its own department for food quality control, is the biggest in the country, KAM said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Currently, over 150 people are employed in the logistics centre. It will recycle 100 tonnes of waste per month and decrease the company's total travelled monthly distance by 5 million kilometres per month, directly lowering its CO2 emissions by 900 tonnes, KAM says on its website.
Skopje-based KAM, established in 1999, operates 74 supermarkets in North Macedonia. The retailer also has stores in neighbouring Bulgaria and Kosovo.
