January 9 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit rose to 213.2 billion denars ($3.7 billion/3.5 billion euro) in the January-November period of 2022, from 145.6 billion denars in the same period of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Exports increased 20.8% on the year to 471.4 billion denars in the eleven months through November, while imports grew 27.8% to 684.6 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as an active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, and ferronickel. The country predominantly imported petroleum and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, metals of the platinum group, electricity and colloidal precious metals.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in the January-November period of last year were Germany, the UK, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
