SKOPJE (North Macedonia), July 12 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in the first five months of 2019 decreased by 1.0% year-on-year to 222,946, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 2.6% to 108,582 in the period under review, Makstat said in a statement.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the five months through May edged up 0.1% year-on-year, reaching 331,528.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in January-May edged down 0.3% to 678,786.
In May alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia fell 4.8% year-on-year to 98,998, as 68,880 of them were foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in May, 9.1% came from Turkey, 7.7% from Serbia and 6.9% from Bulgaria.
