May 25 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia posted a budget gap of 12.5 billion denars ($207.9 million/203 million euro) in the first four months of the year, compared with a 4.68 billion denars deficit in the same period last year, finance ministry data showed on Thursday.
Consolidated budget revenues totalled 87.3 billion denars in the January-April period, compared with 78.9 billion denars in the like period of 2022, as tax revenues fell to 424 million denars from 713 million denars, finance ministry figures showed.
Total expenditures rose to 99.7 billion denars in the review period, compared with 83.6 billion denars in the like period of 2022.
In April alone, the budget was in deficit of 9 billion denars, compared with a 2 million denars surplus in the same month last year.
At the end of 2022, North Macedonia's budget was in deficit of 35.5 billion denars, compared with a 38.8 billion denars gap at the end of 2021.
North Macedonia's government has projected a budget deficit of 42.7 billion denars in 2023, equivalent to 4.6% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP).
