September 25 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's gross electricity production increased by an annual 7.6% in July, to 466,284 MWh, the statistical office said on Monday.
Net electricity output rose by 10.3% year-on-year in July, to 441,888 MWh, Makstat said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in July, generating 173,744 MWh, down 35.9% compared to the same month in 2022. Hydro power plants generated 134,407 MWh, up 34% year-on-year.
Wind parks' output went up 28.2% to 13,451 MWh in the month under review, while solar parks produced 4,901 MWh, up 34.2% on the year.
Electricity generated by cogeneration plants and auto-production thermal power stations totalled 136,567 MWh, up from 44,490 MWh in July 2022. Biogas plants generated 3,214 MWh of electricity in July 2023, up 4.4% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports increased to 138,850 MWh in July 2023 from 132,858 MWh in July 2022. Electricity exports totalled 121,412 MWh in July, compared to just 40,099 MWh exported in the same month of last year.
Distribution losses increased 7.6% on the year to 49,845 MWh in July.
