March 24 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's gross electricity production increased by an annual 23.3% in January, to 745,046 MWh, the statistical office said on Friday.
Net electricity output rose by 23.5% year-on-year in January, to 699,178 MWh, Makstat said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in January, generating 426,941 MWh, up 32.3% compared to the same month in 2022. Hydro power plants generated 186,013 MWh, up 22.7% year-on-year.
Wind parks' output fell 5.2% to 15,606 MWh in the month under review, while solar parks produced 1,473 MWh, down 8% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports decreased to 65,447 MWh in January 2023 from 287,760 MWh in January 2022. Electricity exports totalled 101,276 MWh in January, compared to 37,096 MWh exported in the same month of last year.
Distribution losses decreased 10.4% on the year to 125,617 MWh in January.
