SKOPJE (North Macedonia), August 23 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production rose by an annual 21% to 462,354 MWh in June, the national statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in June also increased by 21%, to 435,839 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross domestic electricity production, generating 243,579 MWh, 13% more than in June 2018.
Combined heat and power plants generated 112,964 MWh, up from 6 MWh in June last year.
Hydro power plants followed with 90,489 MWh, down 41% compared to June 2018.
Electricity generated by wind parks fell by 8.4% year-on-year to 8,073 MWh, while biogas plants’ output rose 31% to 4,636 MWh. Solar parks produced 2,613 MWh of electricity, up 15% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports fell by an annual 10.4% to 164,990 MWh in June. Electricity exports increased by 132.9% to 92,409 MWh in June.
Distribution losses edged down 0.4% on the year to 43,075 MWh in June.
