SKOPJE (North Macedonia), June 25 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production rose by an annual 10.7% to 398,616 MWh in April, the national statistical office said on Tuesday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in April also increased - by 10.4% to 378,662 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross domestic electricity production, generating 275,976 MWh, 108.4% more than in April 2018.
Hydro power plants followed with 109,479 MWh, down 48% compared to April 2018.
Electricity generated by wind parks decreased by 4.4% year-on-year to 6,266 MWh, while biogas plants’ output rose 2.2% to 4,750 MWh. Solar parks produced 2,145 MWh of electricity, down 13.8% on the year. No electricity production was registered in combined heat and power plants in April.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports rose by an annual 9.9% to 199,783 MWh, whereas no electricity exports were recorded in April.
Distribution losses rose 4.0% on the year to 58,045 MWh in April.
