SKOPJE (North Macedonia), June 13 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in the first four months of 2019 edged up 1.0% year-on-year to 154,066, the country's statistical office said.
The number of domestic tourists rose 5.4% to 78,464 in the period under review, Makstat said in a statement on Wednesday.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the four months through April rose 2.4% year-on-year, reaching 232,530.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in the first four months of the year edged up 0.8% to 473,430.
In April alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia rose 2.9% year-on-year to 85,017, as 59,918 of them were foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in April, 15% came from Turkey, 9.0% from Bulgaria and 6.9% from Serbia.
