May 13 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's DS Smith Skopje, a unit of British packaging manufacturer DS Smith, said on Monday that it turned to a net profit of 1.1 million denars ($20,000/18,000 euro) in the first quarter of 2019 from a net loss of 1.1 million denars in the same period of 2018.
The company's total operating revenue grew by an annual 28% to 206.8 million denars in January-March, DS Smith Skopje said in an interim financial statement.
Domestic sales increased 35% to 140.2 million denars, while sales abroad were 15% higher at 65.3 million denars.
Operating expenses rose 26% on the year to 204.8 million denars in the review period.
Expenses for materials added 27% to 138 million denars, while expenses for hired services increased 21% to 16.9 million denars.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, DS Smith is present in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
