SKOPJE (North Macedonia), January 20 (SeeNews) – The business confidence indicator of North Macedonia's construction sector rose by 1.6 percentage points year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
On a quarterly comparison basis, the indicator was 0.6% higher in the October-November period, Makstat said in a statement.
The expectations for orders in the October-December period are more favourable compared to the previous quarter, while the number of employees is expected to increase in the next quarter, the statement reads.
Managers of the business entities in the construction sector expect selling prices to decrease in the next period.
“The factors that had the greatest influence on limiting the improvement of the current construction activity were: no demand with 18.2%, increased material expenditures with 17.4%, shortage of competent staff with 16.7% and increased labour expenditures with 14.7%,” Makstat said.
