SKOPJE (North Macedonia), April 19 (SeeNews) – The business confidence indicator of North Macedonia's construction sector rose 0.7 percentage points year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
On a quarterly comparison basis, the indicator was 0.5% higher, Makstat said in a statement.
The expectations for orders in January-March are more favourable compared to the previous quarter, and the number of employees is expected to slightly increase, the statement reads.
Managers of the business entities in the construction sector expect selling prices to increase in the second quarter.
"The factors that had the greatest influence on limiting the improvement of the current construction activity were: lack of demand (19.9%), competition in the sector (13.8%), increased material costs (13.2%) and shortage of competent staff (13.1%)," Makstat said.
