SKOPJE (North Macedonia), September 10 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's consumer prices rose 0.8% year-on-year in August, after increasing at the same rate in the previous month, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 38% in the consumer basket, increased by 1.8% in August, after growing 1.0% in July, the statistical office said in a statement.
The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which have the second-largest weight of 13%, edged down 0.2% in August after falling 0.1% in the prior month.
Prices in the transport segment, with 8.7% weight in the consumer basket, fell 1.6% in August, following an increase of 1.0% in the previous month.
On a monthly comparison basis, North Macedonia's consumer prices rose 0.3% in August, after adding 0.2% in July.
