December 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia-based pharmaceuticals producer Alkaloid [MSE:ALK] opened a 720,000 euro ($752,600) laboratory for cosmetic product quality monitoring and control, it said.
The 400 sq m facility comprises units for laboratory activities, data processing space, documentation storage space, reagent storage, and room for extra samples, Alkaloid said in a statement on Tuesday.
It is part of an Alkaloid plant in Skopje and employs 18 people.
"The cosmetic segment in has been part of the company's medical portfolio since 1972. The new laboratory seeks to uphold high standards for cosmetic product quality and develop new products that meet the demands of contemporary trends in cosmetology," Zhivko Mukaetov, Alkaloid’s chief executive officer and president of the management board, said in the statement.
Alkaloid has two subsidiaries in North Macedonia and 18 subsidiaries and two representative offices abroad - in Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, the US and the UK.
Its shares traded at an average price of 17,203 denars on the Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) on December 6.
