October 25 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's consolidated budget was in deficit of 24.6 billion denars ($464.6 million/399.7 million euro) in the first nine months of 2021, compared with a 35.9 billion denars gap in the same period last year, finance ministry data showed on Monday.
Consolidated revenues in the January-September period totalled 157.9 billion denars, higher than 136 billion denars in the like period of 2020, as tax revenues rose to 889 million denars from 802 million denars, according to data published by the finance ministry.
Total expenditures rose to 182.4 billion denars in the review period, compared with 171.9 billion denars in the first nine months of 2020.
In September alone, the budget gap narrowed to 385 million denars, compared with a 951 million denars deficit in the same month last year.
At the end of 2020, North Macedonia's budget showed a deficit of 53.9 billion denars, compared with a budget gap of 13.6 billion denars a year earlier.
A deficit of 46.2 billion denars, equivalent to 6.5% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP), is projected in the country's revised 2021 budget.
