September 27 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's budget was in deficit of 24.2 billion denars ($460 million/393.3 million euro) in the eight months through August, compared with a 34.9 billion denars gap in the same period last year, finance ministry data showed on Monday.
Consolidated revenues in the January-August period totalled 138.4 billion denars, higher than 119.5 billion denars in the like period of 2020, as tax revenues rose to 824 million denars from 738 million denars, according to data published by the finance ministry.
Total expenditures rose to 162.6 billion denars in the review period, compared with 154.5 billion denars in the first eight months of 2020.
In August alone, the budget gap widened to 5.4 billion denars, compared with a 2.8 billion denars deficit in the same month last year.
At the end of 2020, North Macedonia's budget showed a deficit of 53.9 billion denars, compared with a budget gap of 13.6 billion denars a year earlier.
A deficit of 46.2 billion denars, equivalent to 6.5% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP), is projected in the country's revised 2021 budget.
