January 4 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia closed last year with a budget deficit of 35.5 billion denars ($610.6 million/575.7 million euro), or 83% of the projected shortfall, the finance ministry said.
The budget deficit was 8.7% lower compared with 2021, finance minister Fatmir Besimi said in a statement on Tuesday.
Total budget revenues came in at 243.1 billion denars in 2022, or 99% of plan. Compared with 2021, the revenues were 11.5% higher.
Total budget expenditures amounted to 278.6 billion denars, which represented 96.6% of plan.
The government had projected a deficit of 42.7 billion denars ($734.4 million/ 691 million euro) in the 2022 budget, equivalent to 5.3% of the estimated gross domestic product.
