December 9 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia will negotiate a deal for the construction of its part of pan-European Corridor VIII with US-Turkish joint venture Bechtel - Enka after the country's top court removed a legal obstacle to the start of talks, deputy prime minister Artan Grubi said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
The Constitutional Court of North Macedonia decided not to initiate a procedure for assessing the constitutionality of nominating a strategic partner for the implementation of the projects for the construction of Corridor VIII and Corridor X infrastructure on the country's territory, the court said in a statement on Thursday.
The decision allows the government to negotiate a deal for the projects with potential contractors without calling a tender.
Corridor VIII is an east-west route connecting Albania's Adriatic port of Durres to the Bulgaria's Black Sea port of Varna via North Macedonia. Corridor X runs from Austria's Salzburg in the north to Greece's Thessaloniki in the south.
