October 21 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's government said it decided to limit working hours of bars and restaurants to 11 pm and reduce passenger capacity of buses by half to slow the intensifying spread of the Covid-19 disease.
In addition, all public sector employees will work in shifts, online or with reduced working hours, the government said in a statement on Tuesday.
The government did not say when the new containment measures will take effect but local media reported that they will be effective as from October 21.
Health minister Venko Filipce said earlier this week that the Covid-19 situation in North Macedonia is serious as cases have risen at alarming rates recently. Lockdowns are the next step if the trend continues, he said in a Twitter post.
On Tuesday, North Macedonia confirmed 408 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total count to 24,196, health ministry data shows. So far, 850 people have died from Covid-19 in North Macedonia.
