N. Macedonia, Serbia open jointly operated border checkpoint

N. Macedonia, Serbia open jointly operated border checkpoint North Macedonia's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Serbian PM Ana Brnabic

SKOPJE (North Macedonia), August 26 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia and Serbia officially opened a jointly operated border control checkpoint at the Tabanovce-Presevo border crossing, the government in Skopje said.

The checkpoint will apply the best European practices by introducing joint border and customs control for faster exchange of information and trade facilitation aimed to reduce corruption, North Macedonia’s prime minister Zoran Zaev said, as quoted in a press release, during the opening ceremony attended by his Serbian counterpart Ana Brnabic.

“The new one-stop-shop concept will accelerate the flow of passengers, goods and vehicles,” Zaev said, adding that the waiting time at the border will be reduced by more than half.
