October 5 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia plans to start covering job benefits for young employees in 2022 in a bid to decrease youth unemployment, prime minister Zoran Zaev said on Tuesday.
The government is also preparing other incentives that will be aimed to motivate young people to work or open their own businesses, Zaev said during a news conference streamed on the government's YouTube channel.
The government hopes to decrease youth unemployment in the country to less than 17% by 2024, Zaev added.
The country had an youth unemployment rate of 33.3% in the second quarter of 2021, slightly down from 34.3% in the same period a year earlier, according to figures by the country's statistical office.
