SKOPJE (North Macedonia), October 24 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia scored best among the countries of Southeast Europe (SEE) in the latest Doing Business report of the World Bank Group released on Wednesday.
North Macedonia lost seven spots to 17th position in the ranking, while Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia are the only SEE countries that improved their rankings compared with last year's edition, according to data from the Doing Business 2020 report.
North Macedonia made enforcing contracts easier by simplifying the calculation of enforcement fees as well as making the overall process less costly but changed its labour regulations on probationary period, priority rules during redundancy dismissals and reemployment, and severance payments, the report reads.
The second-best destination for doing business in SEE is Slovenia, which ranks 37th, three spots up from last year, followed by Serbia at 44th place, Moldova, 48th, and Montenegro, 50th.
