January 19 (SeeNews) - More than ten companies intend to take part in a 1.9 billion lei ($418 million/385 million euro) public tender for the rehabilitation of 50 km of Bucharest’s tram lines, mayor Nicusor Dan said.
This is the largest public tender ever organised by the Bucharest City Hall and bids must be submitted by February 15, Dan said in a social media post on Wednesday.
The initial submission deadline had been set for January 4, a tender document published in Romania’s electronic system for public procurement, SEAP, shows.
The mayor did not explain what was the reason for the deadline extension.
The rehabilitation works are divided into 15 lots and the contracts include six months for the design stage and 12 months for the execution of each lot.
In order to be eligible, the bidders’ average turnover over the last three years must be equal to the value of each of the 15 lots, ranging from roughly 8 million lei to 745 million lei.
On May 23, 2022, the Bucharest city government announced that it was seeking 500 million euro in EU financing to modernise 50 km of tram line in the city.
