January 30 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 44.1% year-on-year to 4.240 billion euro ($4.626 billion) in 2022, the statistical office said on Monday.
Exports rose 60.2% to 700.2 million euro in 2022, while imports went up 41.3% to 3.54 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in 2022 were Serbia with 149.4 million euro, Switzerland with 107.9 million euro and Bosnia with 90.6 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 614.7 million euro worth of imports, China with 330.6 million euro, and Greece with 295.4 million euro.
In 2021, Montenegro's trade gap widened by 19% to 2.941 billion euro.
