May 30 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 13.6% on the year in the first four months of 2023, to 1.39 billion euro ($1.49 billion), the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports fell by 2.7% on the year to 271 million euro in the review period, while imports went up 18.4% to 1.11 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first four months of 2023 were Serbia with 65.4 million euro, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 45.3 million euro and Slovenia with 44.9 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 187.3 million euro worth of imports. China followed with 130.8 million euro and Germany with 107 million euro.
In 2022, Montenegro’s trade gap widened by 44% to 4.240 billion euro.
