April 28 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 30.4% on the year to 448.5 million euro ($477.9 million) in the first quarter of 2022, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports more than doubled to 199.0 million euro in January-March 2022 from 94.4 million euro in the like period of last year, while imports went up 47.7% to 647.6 million euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first three months of 2022 were Serbia with 34.4 million euro, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 28.7 million euro and Slovenia with 11.3 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 112.5 million euro worth of imports, Germany with 53.8 million euro, and Italy with 36.4 million euro.
In 2021, Montenegro's trade deficit expanded by 18.9% to 2.067 billion euro.
