PODGORICA (Montenegro), March 6 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's Pljevlja thermal power plant (TPP) produced 1.216 GWh of electricity in 2016, or 95.7% of its target of 1.286 GWh for the year, the plant's director Luka Jovanovic has said.
In December alone, the TPP produced a record-high 152,379 MWh of power, Jovanovic says in an interview for the latest edition of the corporate magazine of state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) posted on the EPCG website.
The power plant managed to produce more than 5,000 MWh in a single day for the first time in its history in December.
The Declared Net Capacity (DNC) of the power plant was increased to 205 MW from 198.5 MW, which positively influenced work efficiency as well as the price of energy, Jovanovic added.
In 2017, EPCG plans to carry out a 60-day planned overhaul of the TPP, including a repair of the turbo generator that will ensure the reliable operation of the power plant in the next five years.
In September, EPCG signed a 324.5 million euro ($343.9 million) deal with Skoda Praha for the construction of a second unit of Pljevlja power plant, with a capacity of 254 MW.
