PODGORICA (Montenegro), October 23 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's Pljevlja coal-fired thermal power plant's electricity output rose 5.69% on the year in the first nine months of 2019, state-run power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) [MNG:EPCG] said.
Pljevlja TPP produced 1.004 million MWh of electricity in the period under review, EPCG said in a statement earlier this week.
Montenegro's government said in December it plans to complete Pljevlja's modernisation by 2021 in order to avoid closure of the power plant. Pljevlja has a utility life of 20,000 hours in the period between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2023, environment minister Pavle Radulovic said back then.
Last month, Montenegrin prime minister Dusko Markovic said EPCG has dropped plans for the construction of a second unit of Pljevlja to comply with the government’s strategies for sustainable development and environmental protection.
