May 26 (SeeNews) - The local government of Niksic, Montenegro's second largest city, will adopt by the end of the summer a spatial plan allowing for the implementation of significant investments by Israel’s BIG Shopping Centre and German discount supermarket Lidl, local media reported.
“These two companies' investments in Niksic will further reduce the unemployment and attract numerous other investors,” the president of the Niksic municipal council, Nemanja Vukovic said, as seen in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of media outlet RTNK.
In February 2022, then economic development minister Jakov Milatovic said that Lidl plans to open about 20 stores in Montenegro by 2024.
In Southeast Europe, Lidl is already present in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Romania.
Founded in 1994, Herzelia-headquartered BIG Shopping Centers operates in Israel, the US, France, Serbia and Montenegro.
