March 25 (SeeNews) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Montenegro more than doubled to 56.4 million euro ($61.8 million) in January, from 25.8 million euro in the prior-year period, the central bank said, citing preliminary figures.
Total FDI inflow increased to 70.7 million euro in the first month of 2022 from 38.6 million euro in January 2021, while FDI outflow grew to 20.4 million euro from 12.9 million euro, the central bank said.
The inflow of investments in companies and banks went down to 9.3 million euro in the period under review, from 17.6 million euro a year earlier, while investments in real estate stood at 20.8 million euro, up from 8.7 million euro in January 2021.
FDI inflow in the form of intercompany lending increased to 29.4 million euro in the first month of 2022 from 11.5 million euro in the like period of 2021.
The net inflow of FDI into Montenegro grew to 552 million euro in 2021, from 467.5 million euro in the previous year.
