PODGORICA (Montenegro), June 28 (SeeNews) – Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 5.7% to 850 million euro ($967 billion) in the first five months of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports declined by 2.8% to 155 million euro in January-May, while imports rose 4.3% to 1.005 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first five months of 2019 were Serbia with 38.2 million euro, Hungary with 19.5 million euro and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 14.4 million euro.
Imports into the country came mainly from Serbia which accounted for 185 million euro, Germany ranked second with 94 million euro and China followed with 88.6 million euro.
In 2018, Montenegro's trade gap widened by 11.5% to 2.154 billion euro.
