September 29 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 15.2% on the year to 1.33 billion euro ($1.56 billion) in the first eight months of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Exports rose 15.4% to 266.2 million euro in the January-August period, while imports went up 15.2% to 1.596 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first eight months of 2021 were Serbia with 69.1 million euro, Bosnia with 21.3 million euro and Italy with 18.1 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 321.2 million euro worth of imports, Germany with 148.8 million euro, and Italy with 102.6 million euro.
In 2020, Montenegro's trade deficit declined by 20.5% to 1.738 billion euro.
