PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 29 (SeeNews) – Montenegro’s trade deficit declined by 21.2% on the year to 1.153 billion euro ($1.348 billion) in the first eight months of 2020, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports declined 12.3% to 230.7 million euro in the January-August period, while imports went down 19.8% to 1.384 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first eight months of 2020 were Serbia with 57.6 million euro, Slovenia with 23.1 million euro and Hungary with 17.8 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia which accounted for 268.2 million euro worth of imports, Germany with 128.0 million euro and Italy with 89.0 million euro.
In 2019, Montenegro's trade gap widened by 1.5% to 2.185 billion euro.
