June 10 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit expanded by 30.9% on the year to 659.1 million euro ($699.7 million) in the first four months of 2022, the country's statistical office said.
Exports more than doubled to 278.6 million euro in January-April 2022 from 135.8 million euro in the like period of last year, while imports went up 46.7% to 937.7 million euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first four months of 2022 were Serbia with 45.6 million euro, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 43.5 million euro and Luxembourg with 15.1 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly from Serbia, which accounted for 157.8 million euro worth of imports, Germany with 75.0 million euro, and Greece with 63.3 million euro.
In 2021, Montenegro's trade deficit expanded by 18.9% to 2.067 billion euro.
