September 14 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 8.6% year-on-year in August, after rising by an annual 6.9% in July, the national statistical office said on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Montenegro's consumer prices went up by 1.7% in August, after increasing by 1.0% in July, the statistical office said in a statement.
In August, annual inflation was mostly fueled by an increase in the prices of clothing and footwear, by 13.9%. Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 10.5%, furniture, household equipment, and household maintenance prices rose by 10%, prices at restaurants and hotels added 9.5%, and prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels went up by 7.1%.
Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 6%, healthcare services rose by 5.7%, while prices of recreation and culture activities rose by 5.1%.
