February 1 (SeeNews) - Montenegrin power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) [MNG:EPCG] has signed a 1.77 million euro ($2.03 million) contract for the overhaul of a turbine of the Piva hydro power plant (HPP) with a tie-up of Slovenia's Litostroj, Croatia's Koncar - Generatori i motori and Serbia's Elektroremont, EPCG said.
The consortium will replace the old and dysfunctional parts of turbine No 2 of HPP Piva in a period of eight months, as part of the general overhaul of the hydro power plant, EPCG said in a statement on Thursday.
Works on the contract are expected to start in April, EPCG said.
EPCG also intends to launch a project for the overhaul of the turbine No 3 of HPP Piva in 2021, the executive director of EPCG, Igor Noveljic, said in the statement.
HPP Piva is equipped with three helical turbines with a vertical shaft and produces an average of 737.25 GWh of electricity annually.
