January 30 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's mobile phone penetration rate edged up to 163.43% at the end of December from 160.30% a year earlier, data from the country's telecoms regulator indicated on Friday.
The three mobile operators in the country of 625,000 people reported a total of 1,013,296 SIM cards in use at the end of December, up by an annual 1.95%, according to figures posted on the website of Montenegro's Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services.
The number of pre-paid subscribers totalled 653,051.
The country's leading mobile operator, Telenor, part of the Norwegian telecommunications group of the same name, had 382,273 clients and а 37.73% market share at the end of 2014.
The second biggest wireless carrier, T-Mobile, a unit of Magyar Telekom, had 345,863 subscribers and а 34.13% market share.
M:Tel, controlled by Serbia's state-owned Telekom Srbija, had 285,160 customers and 28.14% market share at the end of the fourth quarter.
