PODGORICA (Montenegro), May 22 (SeeNews) – Montenegrin power grid operator Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS) plans to invest 20 million euro ($21.8 million) in the construction and revamp of electrical substations in the period between 2020 and 2022, executive director Zoran Djukanovic has said.
A total of 6.3 million euro will be invested in the construction of the power substations of Grbalj 2 in Kotor, Tri krsta in Tivat and Duklo in Niksic, as well as the overhaul of the Klicevo substation in Niksic, Djukanovic said in an interview published in the May issue of the monthly magazine of Montenegro's majority state-owned power utility company EPCG [MNG:EPCG].
In 2020, the company plans to invest 10 million euro in the revamp of power transmission lines with a total length of 300 km, used for the supply of electricity to rural areas in Montenegro, Djukanovic said.
"In 2019 alone, works worth more than 15 million euro were launched, the completion of which will mean a better, safer and more stable supply of electricity for about 20,000 of our customers in rural areas throughout Montenegro," he added.
CEDIS, set up in June 2016 to operate the country's power grid, is wholly owned by EPCG. In July 2019, economy minister Dragica Sekulic said CEDIS plans to invest 50 million euro in the overhaul of its electricity distribution network until 2021.
