PODGORICA (Montenegro), July 16 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's power grid operator Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS) has invested 2.3 million euro ($2.7 million) in the construction of a 35/10 kV substation, the company said.
The operation of Klinci substation in Lustica, in the country's south, was launched in test mode two weeks ago and no problems have been detected thus far, CEDIS said in a statement last week.
"The construction of the substation ensures a much more reliable operation of the 35 kV network, and therefore a better quality supply of our users in the entire Herceg Novi area. The number of interruptions in power supply and network damage will be significantly reduced," the company's chief project manager for Region 5, Milorad Samardzic, said.
The substation is a necessary infrastructure prerequisite for the tourist service in the Lustica peninsula, while the direct improvement of the quality of power supply is already evident for around 900 users, CEDIS said.
Lustica Development, a joint venture of Swiss-based Orascom Development Holding and the Montenegrin government, is developing the Lustica Bay project which will feature more than 1,000 apartments, some 500 villas and townhouses, seven hotels, two marinas, an 18-hole golf course and a range of public facilities including a school and medical facility. Works on the development of the project began in 2013, while the entire project is due to be fully operational by 2038.
