February 7 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's government has decided to invest more than 28 million euro ($30.7 million) in the maintenance and development of railway infrastructure in 2020, it said.
"The purchase of three modern electric trains will start this year," the government said in a Twitter post on Thursday.
The Montenegrin government intends to increase investments in the maintenance and development of railway infrastructure, in order to increase the competitiveness and safety of railway transport, transport minister Osman Nurkovic said earlier this week.
Montenegro's railway transport company carries about one million passengers and 1.5 million tonnes of cargo per year, which is much below its capacity, Nurkovic said.
