May 29 (SeeNews) - Montenegro will complete this year the reconstruction of an 8-km road section connecting the northern towns of Kolasin and Matesevo, local media reported.
"In the winter it is not possible to carry out works in the northern part of the country, so we were were forced to start work in mid-April,” traffic administration director, Radomir Vuksanovic, said as quoted by state broadcaster RTCG on Sunday.
The Kolasin-Matesevo section is part of a road that will connect the northern municipality of Berane to Kolasin, whose construction is being funded by a 26 million euro ($27.9 million) loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The funding will cover the construction of a 13.9 km road as well as final works on the 2.8 km-long tunnel that will link Berane to Kolasin, reducing travel time between the two towns and improving connectivity in Montenegro's less developed northern regions.
