PODGORICA (Montenegro), December 24 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's government has terminated the concession agreements for the construction of Crnja, Ljubastica and Crni Potok hydropower plants on Crnja river in Kolasin municipality, it said.
The government also instructed the capital investments ministry to initiate the procedure of terminating the concession agreement for the Skrbusa hydropower plant, on Skrbusa river, it said in a statement on Thursday.
WWF Adria said in October it submitted to the government an application to terminate the concession agreement for the Crnja, Ljubastica and Crni Potok hydropower plants as the concessionaire has repeatedly violated the provisions of the contract.
Earlier this year, WWF Adria also requested the immediate termination of the concession contract of local firm Hydro Logistics for the construction of the Skrbusa hydropower plant, as the project endangers the environment and the Skrbusa watercourse.
The Montenegrin government signed a concession agreement for the construction of the Crnja, Ljubastica and Crni Potok hydropower plants with local company Dekar in 2008 and issued building permits for the projects in 2011. According to Montenegrin media reports, Dekar started construction works in 2020.
