March 14 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) [MNG:EPCG] has said it picked an offer by Germany's Steag Energy Services for the drafting of a preliminary design project for the reconstruction of Pljevlja thermal power plant (TPP).
EPCG expects to sign the contract with Steag Energy Services in the next few days, the Montenegrin company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The arrival of such a renowned company in Montenegro represents a guarantee that the planned reconstruction of Block I of Pljevlja TPP will be carried out in accordance with the latest standards and technologies, it added.
The estimated value of the deal is 900,000 euro ($1.1 million) and the tender winner will have seven months to complete the project, according to a public notice posted on the website of Montenegro's Public Procurement Administration in January.
In December, Montenegro's government said it plans to complete a project for modernisation of Pljevlja by 2021, in order to avoid the closure of the plant. The power plant has a utility life of 20,000 hours in the period between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2023, environment minister Pavle Radulovic said back then.
EPCG said in October it plans to invest a total of 40 million euro over the next three years in the modernisation of Pljevlja TPP.
