PODGORICA (Montenegro), October 10 (SeeNews) – The Montenegrin government said it has endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway that would link seven countries in the region.
Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Greece are also part of the cross-border infrastructure initiative, the Montenegrin government said in a statement on Thursday.
The MoU should encourage the participant countries to jointly seek backing for the project from the European Commission and international financial institutions, the statement said.
The Adriatic-Ionian motorway, known as the Blue Corridor, is planned to stretch along the eastern shore of the Adriatic and Ionian seas, spanning the western coast of the Balkan peninsula.
