February 5 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's transport ministry has invited bids for climate change assessment services as part of a project for the reconstruction of roads, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Monday.
The assignment, with an estimated cost of 200,000 euro ($249,000), will be funded by the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (SSF), the bank said in a procurement notice posted on its website.
The SSF is a multi-donor fund established to complement existing funding for projects which do not fit in with the donors’ priorities. It is administered by the EBRD and the European Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
The assignment is expected to start in March 2018 and has an estimated overall duration of 12 months, the EBRD said.
The closing date of the invitation for tenders is March 5.
In December, the EBRD said it is providing a 40 million euro loan to contribute to the financing of the reconstruction of 216 km of Montenegro’s main roads. The loan will be provided in three tranches and will cover the costs for the reconstruction of Rozaje-Spiljani, Tivat-Jaz, and Podgorica-Danilovgrad road sections, including the overhaul of several bridges and tunnels.
The climate change assessment services contract will include support to the transport ministry in establishing an institutional framework for assessing, managing and communicating climate risks to the road network, preparing a climate vulnerability assessment of the road network and in mapping out specific vulnerabilities, implementation of climate resilience measures under the associated investment project, and developing and adopting an adaptation strategy to climate change.
