PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 11 (SeeNews) – Montenegrin transport minister Osman Nurkovic said the government is holding talks with potential foreign investors on awarding concession contracts for operation of Podgorica and Tivat airports, local media reported on Monday.
The government has already started talks with potential investors from the UAE, Azerbaijan, Canada, Turkey and China, Montenegrin daily newspaper Dnevne Novine quoted Nurkovic as saying in an interview.

Montenegro is a famous tourist destination, which will develop its capacity in the future, and big companies believe that investments in the country's transport infrastructure are financially sustainable, Nurkovic added.
He also noted that the government plans to incorporate the ideas of potential investors into the future documentation for concession contracts, in order to increase the benefits for Montenegro's citizens, the state and the tourism industry.
Montenegro’s two international airports, in Podgorica and Tivat, serviced a total of 774,764 passengers in the first half of 2017, an increase of 23% year-on-year, according to data of the country's state-owned airport operator Aerodromi Crne Gore.
Podgorica airport serviced 417,862 passengers in the first half of 2017, up 23.5%. Tivat airport handled 356,902 passengers in the first six months of the year, up 22.4%.
