PODGORICA (Montenegro), December 14 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's finance ministry said it has signed an agreement for a 20 million euro ($21.9 million) loan with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the upgrade of existing and the construction of new regional roads.
The contract covers the upgrade of a 11.5 km road from Lubnice to Jelovica, the construction of a 1.4 km road between Jelovica and Jezerine and a new 3.5 km realigned section between Jelovica and Jezerine, including a new 2.9 km tunnel and a 100 m bridge, the EBRD said earlier.
The project will shorten the Kolasin-Berane subsection of the Bar-Boljare motorway, improve Bjelasica's tourism offer, boost transport accessibility and aid the country's economic growth, the finance ministry said in a press release on Friday.
The 169 km Bar-Boljare motorway will be part of the longer Bar-Belgrade stretch of pan-European Transport Corridor X, which will link Montenegro's Adriatic coast with the Serbian capital.
