May 27 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's national telecommunications regulator, EKIP, has approved draft documentation for a tender for allocating frequencies in the 700 MHz, 3.6 GHz and 26 GHz bands, it said on Friday.
EKIP decided to allocate radio frequencies from all three bands in a single public tender, while respecting the principles of objectivity, transparency, non-discrimination and proportionality, taking into account the principles of rational use of the radio frequency spectrum, the regulator said in a statement on Thursday.
The regulator has launched public consultations on the draft documentation, inviting interested parties to submit their comments, opinions and suggestions by July 8. The adoption of the documentation is expected in September.
In December, EKIP said it approved bids placed by Mtel, Crnogorski Telekom and Telenor Montenegro in a public auction for allocation of national frequency licences for 5G mobile networks held on December 27. Mtel won frequencies in the 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands, while Crnogorski Telekom and Telenor Montenegro secured frequencies in the 2.6 GHz spectrum.
